Highlighting Europe’s Future Disruption-Management Blueprint at the Visions for Future Communications Summit
On 25–26 November 2025, the SCUDO project was presented at the Visions for Future Communications Summit (VFCS) – Challenges for 2030 and Beyond, held in Lisbon, Portugal. The event focused on sessions addressing the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) – Challenges for 2030 and Beyond, bringing forward discussions on Europe’s long-term research and innovation priorities in the field of future communication and digital systems.
SCUDO was represented at the event by Dr. Eusebiu Catana, Project Coordinator from ERTICO – ITS EUROPE. During the summit, Dr. Catana presented the project and participated in a panel session. Additionally, the event presented itself has an opportunity for networking activities.
SCUDO is an AI-based disruption-management solution currently under development, aiming to support cities, regions, and Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) corridors by analysing real-time traffic data, weather conditions, infrastructure constraints, and incident information. By anticipating disruptions and proposing alternative routes, the project seeks to enable proactive decision-making, safer routing, and more reliable transport operations, including potential deployment at city level through the EU Local Digital Twin (LDT) Toolbox.
The focus of VFCS 2025 on long-term research and innovation agendas aligned well with SCUDO’s ambition to contribute to future-ready and resilient transport systems. The event was particularly relevant to SCUDO’s objectives, as the SRIA discussions are closely linked to the preparation of FP10, the upcoming European Framework Programme for 2028–2034. VFCS represents the launch of the next update of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the European Union, an exercise carried out continuously in recent years. The upcoming SRIA will be particularly significant, as it will accompany the launch of FP10, the new EU Framework Programme, and will play a crucial role in shaping Europe’s long-term research and innovation priorities.
