Showcasing AI-Driven Disruption Management at Smart City Expo World Congress 2025

06 November 2025 – The SCUDO project was presented at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2025, which took place on 4th to 5th November in Barcelona, Spain. The event brought together policymakers, businesses, SMEs, and research and development organisations to discuss the future of cities.

SCUDO was represented at the event by Dr. Eusebiu Catana, the project coordinator from ERTICO – ITS Europe. During the event, Dr. Catana presented the project, took part in a panel discussion, and engaged in dedicated networking activities.

As an AI-based disruption-management solution currently under development, SCUDO aims to support cities, regions, and Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T)  corridors by analysing real-time traffic data, weather conditions, infrastructure constraints, and incident information. The project is working towards enabling proactive decision-making, safer routing, and more reliable transport operations, with the possibility of deployment at city level through the  EU Local Digital Twin (LDT) Toolbox  .

SCUDO is also being designed to improve coordination with digital nodes such as ports, terminals, and intermodal hubs by providing more reliable arrival forecasts and optimising slot allocation, contributing to reduced congestion and improved network reliability during abnormal transport operations. Participation in SCEWC 2025 aligned with SCUDO’s objectives and offered an opportunity to discuss the project concept.
