TU Delft, Vervoerregio Amsterdam, and RWS meet in the Netherlands to discuss SCUDO’s Amsterdam Use Case

This was the first meeting with the use case partners since the beginning of the project and aimed to clarify perspectives relevant to the project. Representing TU Delft were Shadi Sharif Azadeh, Gonçalo Homem de Almeida Correia, and Aida Bitaraf. From the Use Case side, the meeting was attended by Kelly Pronk and Ton Geuzendam from VRA, as well as Anne Rhebergen from Ministerie Van Infrastructuur En Waterstaat (RWS).

The discussions focused on the availability of data and the tools currently employed for stress testing. The meeting also addressed the Dutch use case description in relation to Work Packages 4 and 6, including planned expansions in the Amsterdam metropolitan area, the intended purposes of these expansions (e.g., residential, commercial, etc.), and considerations for long-term planning.

These exchanges provided a clearer understanding of the available resources and the issues to be addressed within the scope of the work.

The SCUDO project has established four use cases, one of which is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This use case aims to measure the impact of its solutions across different modes of transport, geographical areas, population characteristics, and disruption types.

VRA and RWS will collaborate with TU Delft, which will intervene as a knowledge partner, in the SCUDO project to address the main challenges of the Use Case particularly related to extreme weather conditions and climate change, energy disruptions and supply-chain disruptions related to roads and waterways.

SCUDO’s VISION is to identify and classify scenarios of disruptive changes, assess their impact on different socio-economic groups, improve the monitoring of disruptions and the quantification of uncertainties, and develop methods for designing & managing transport systems based on the Safe System Approach. This will increase the resilience and safety of transport systems.
